Written Description of ArgoSort Organizer
Welcome to the ArgoSort team, a group of engineering students from Georgia Tech! Our goal is to provide an organizational tool for those with recent visual and mobility impairments. Our project aims to help people sort their day-to-day items using ArgoSort, a voice-assisted organizer.
ArgoSort is similar to an automated shelving unit; each shelf has a box to organize your items. The device can store or retrieve these boxes within seconds using its adjacent carrier, which is shaped like a baking sheet. To start the organizer, plug it into an outlet and hold down the power button on the top-left front-facing corner of the carrier, which will be at the top of ArgoSort. You will hear a power-up sound [play tune].
Once powered, you can begin storing items. Activate it by saying, “Hey Argo,” or clicking the power button once. Once you hear the activation tune [play tune], place your item into the box presented by the carrier and provide the name of the item by saying “Store one item name,” “Please keep one item name,” or any similar phrase. The device will play distinct tunes before [play tune] and after [play tune] storing the box with your item.
To retrieve the item later, simply repeat the device activation and call for the item by saying “Retrieve one item name,” “Please get one item name,” or any similar phrase. The device will play different tunes before [play tune] and after [play tune] retrieving the box with your item. Each box can hold several belongings. If the device does not understand your voice command, it will play a different tune [play tune] to prompt you to repeat it. You may also call for its inventory list by activating the device and saying “Inventory.”
There is a volume dial on the top-right front-facing corner of the carrier to adjust how loud the device’s tunes are. These and future buttons and dials provide alternative ways to interact with the device. For example, instead of asking the ArgoSort to “Increase Volume,” you may prefer to turn the volume dial up or down. The device will have unique tactile features for each button and dial.
The device has a sleek look for the home setting. Its modular design allows you to stack many shelves. Our device does not need an Internet connection, meaning you can start it right out of the shipping box. Audio and written user manuals will be available on our website.
